Local Chamber Music! Pacific Crest & Trinity Alps & Michael Daugherty's "Tales of Hemingway"

January 7, 2017:  Ringing in the NewYear with chamber music and a fabulous new work!  Two local chamber music programs were promoted in this program, one by the Pacific Crest Music festival musicians in Siskiyou County, performing music by Mendelssohn, Mozart and Beethoven; and in Trinity and Humboldt Counties the Trinity Alps Chamber musicians performing concerts featuring piano and string quartet music by Beethoven.  My gem for the show was this wonderful new recording of "Tales of Hemingway”, a cello concerto by American contemporary composer Michael Daugherty. This amazing new work is a musical description of four of Hemingway's books: "Big Two-Hearted River", "For Whom the Bell Tolls", "The Old Man and the Sea" and "The Sun Also Rises”.
