It's won't be long before all the great new music made in the past 12 months becomes so last year.

Racing Time - Ashley Naylor, from his album Alexandria Sunset, a September release. When he's not making his own records, Naylor plays guitar in Paul Kelly's band, sits in with the Church, Even, and half a dozen other combos.

I Want the 1 (That I Can't Have) - A fella called Jack Ladder, and his band the Dreamlanders, with new album Separation Rock, which came out in October. The album was recorded in California and is meant to be a breakout for Mr Ladder, whose name on his library card is Timothy Kenneth Rogers, no relation to the Tim Rogers of You Am I fame.

Sump Oil City - Pete Cornelius, from the island state of Tasmania, it was on his album Southern, released in February.

Too Soon - Clio Renner, from her album Don't Hurry the Dance, which came out in March.

Blue-rinse Endless Summer - Ian W. Beer, it was on his album Last Chance Hotel, which came out in May.

Let Go of Love - Bleak Squad, a band that can rightfully be called a super group, it was the title track of their debut album, a September release. The band comprises Mick Harvey, one of Nick Cave's long-term playmates; Mick Turner, guitarist from Dirty Three and a dozen other groups; Adalita, who has fronted the band Magic Dirt for many years; and session drummer/producer Marty Brown.

How You Gonna Get Back Home - Kim Salmon, in March he released an album titled Smoked Salmon.

No Reply - Kevin Parker as Tame Impala, pretty much a one-person operation these days, the song is on his new album Deadbeat, which came out in October.

Phantom Island - King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, the title track to their latest album, which came out in June. It's the Giz with a proper ochestra.

World On Its Head - Dom Mariani, a friend of the show, with a track from his new album Apple of Life, a November release.

I Keep Coming Back For More - Paul Kelly, from his latest, titled Seventy, another November offering.
