Dan Scollon is and instructor and coordinator for Shasta College’s Geography and Geospatial Program, where has taught since 1996. Over the years Dan has worked with students, the community and professional organizations including NorthStateGIS and Redding Area GIS Users (RAGU), both of which he helped found. Other affiliations include Shasta Living Streets, Shasta Land Trust, the California Geographical Society, California Map Society and California Geographic Information Association.
In this conversation, we jump into the applications of GIS technology in service of social justice aims, talk about some of the projects that Dan has led and collaborated on, and other trends we might want to pay attention to going forward as well as resources like Open Street Map,
