October 22 2016:  Next weekend the Shasta Symphony presents “From Tragedy to Triumph”, a concert of music by Brahms, Tchaikovsky and American minimalist composer Philip Glass, as well as a children’s concert with music from Star Wars and other movie favorites.  Tonight Intermountain Classics is proud to welcome conductor and artistic director Dr. Dwayne Corbin, who will talk about the symphony, the music to be performed and in particular to welcome guest violin soloist Bryan Hall, who will perform the violin concerto by Philip Glass as part of the concert.  During the second hour of the show, we will hear  more selections in the “minimalist” vein, a symphony by Brazilian Heitor Villa Lobos dedicated to the mountains of that country, and a baroque cantata from Cuba.  Stay tuned for this most inspiring program of fine classical music, right here on Intermountain Classics, on your community radio Station for Redding and Shasta County, KKRN, 88.5 FM and on the web at www.kkrn.org.
