Tonight’s Intermountain Classics highlights the upcoming concert of the Shasta Symphony Orchestra next Friday evening, February 19th. Featured will be the beautiful 8th Symphony of Dvorak, a quirky piece by Charles Ives called the “Country Band March”, imitating the amateur marching bands of late 19th and early 20th century New England at patriotic gatherings, and the Sonata for Bassoon and Orchestra featuring Shasta Symphony principle bassoonist Dan Matthews. A special feature of tonight’s program will be interviews with Dan and symphony conductor Dr. Dwayne Corbin. The second hour of the program includes a piano concerto by Ludwig van Beethoven.
