Beating the heat, starting with a 1985 television ad featuring Paul Hogan selling American tourists on the idea of coming to Australia for a holiday, where it’s winter and cool as. Shrimp on the barbie.

Intro: Roulette - Dom Mariani and the Majestic Kelp, Underwater Casino, 2003. Dom Mariani has been making fine music for many years in several bands, most notably with The Stems.

Blue Mountains - Suzannah Espie, from 2011, her album Sea of Lights.

Nothing Special - Mark Gillespie, from his 1981 album Sweet Nothing.

Elvis Is King - Andy Cowan, on the album Sweet Release, from 2004.

The Dead Heart - Midnight Oil, from an album they recorded in concert in Sydney in 2017, released in 2018, titled Armistice Day: Live at the Domain. The song was a single in Australia in 1986 and in the USA in 1988. It was also on their 1987 album, Diesel and Dust.  

Distant Sun - Neil Finn and Paul Kelly, from a concert tour they had in 2013, which produced the album Goin’ Your Way. The song is one of Neil’s, from a 1993 Crowded House LP, Together Alone.

Look What You’ve Done - Renee Geyer, from a concert album she made in 1982, simply titled Renee Live. It was recorded at the Tivoli Theatre in Sydney.

Where Did She Go - Lava Fangs, from their new album Sub Auroram.

The Unguarded Moment - the Church, from their first album, Of Skins and Heart, 1981. This version from the 2007 compilation Deep in the Shallows.

Eagle Rock - Daddy Cool doing one of the true Oz rock classics, Eagle Rock. It was released as a single in 1971 and later that year on the album Daddy Who? Daddy Cool.

25 to 5 - the Triffids, from their 1986 album In the Pines. This versions from the 2007 reissue CD.

Somewhere in there we heard “Football, Meat Pies, Kangaroos and Holden Cars, a TV ad from 1976, which was adapted from the US Chevrolet campaign, “baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet”.
