This week on Write Stuff my guest is the Reverend Mary Mitchell.  In this interview, Mary and I will discuss her book, My Search For Ancient Wisdom – One Prisoner’s Journey of Transformation.  The book is a collaboration between Mary and Michael J. Nichols, an African American man serving life behind bars in Missouri .  The two have corresponded for over 13 years and this book is a compilation of their letters.  They document Michael’s personal struggles in a dark and seemingly hopeless place.  Over time, the many letters bear witness to a gradual transformation from embittered prisoner to an enlightened and respected mentor for others serving time behind bars.  The book is a thoughtful, inspiring and powerful read.
