In this episode, we speak with Shasta County District Attorney Stepahnie Bridgett.
According to her bio, Stephanie Bridgett graduated from CSU Hayward (East Bay) in 1996 and graduated with distinction from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in 2001. DA Bridgett began working in the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office in 2002. During her career as a prosecutor, she has handled every type of criminal prosecution from misdemeanor cases to homicides. In 2017 she was sworn-in as the 32nd Shasta County District Attorney, making her the first woman to serve as District Attorney since the office was established in 1851. In June of 2022, she was re-elected to serve a new term as the Shasta County District Attorney.
Among her many accomplishments as District Attorney, DA Bridgett has created the Chronic Offender Accountability Program which utilizes designated jail space for the worst repeat offenders in Shasta County, and the “Focusing on Children Under Stress” (FOCUS) Program to connect first responders with a traumatized child’s school to ensure the children are given the resources they need.You can learn more about the District Attorney's office here.
