Thursday, Aug. 25th, on Write Stuff I interview a young and talented man from Nigeria. Damilola Afolabi arrived here from Nigeria four years ago to pursue studies in acting. My busy and articulate guest refers to himself as a cultural architect. That just might qualify as an understatement. He is a DJ, musician, actor, dancer, writer and, as you will hear in the interview, the consummate storyteller. You’ll get a real sense of the immigrant experience - of what it’s like to come to America from Africa. He also brings his “talking drum” into the studio to give us a lesson on this instrument’s rich tradition in communication.
