Let’s open the show with an artist we do not get to hear often enough. From Amsterdam in The Netherlands , Dutch saxophonist and singer Candy Dulfer was joining bands before she was a teenager. appearances with Prince led to session work with Eurythmics guitarist/producer Dave Stewart. Candy  received a Grammy nomination for her 1990 debut album Saxuality. Her hit song from that album Lily Was Here is now a classic. Her 2007 hit LA City Lights was a Billboard number one for seven straight weeks. This coming week on October 28th Candy Dulfer will release her latest album titled We Never Stop. We are fortunate to have an early release from that album to play for you. I am playing the fabulous saxophone and a vocal by Candy Dulfer accompanied by guitarist Nile Rodgers livening things up with this song, brand new, Jammin’ Tonight.

Pianist, vocalist, and entertainer extraordinaire Jon Batiste has been a long time band leader on Steven Colbert’s The Late Show. Batiste moved up to superstardom as the king of this year's Grammys with eleven nominations, the most of any artist. On Grammy night Batiste took home five trophies, including the coveted album of the year award for his album “We Are.”  The last few years Batiste has produced so much outstanding music while also performing his nightly duties on Colbert’s show. Recently he found it necessary to leave his band leader position to concentrate totally on his spectacular career. He just released this single titled Sweet that showcases his talented singing, piano playing, dancing on the accompanying video, and overall production skills. He was accompanied on this song by the Pentatonix a cappella group.

Barbados has produced some great musical talent. One of those artists Rihanna was just signed to perform at the 2023 Super Bowl.  Also born  and raised in Barbados, saxophonist Elan Trotman was educated at the world renowned Berklee College Of Music in Boston. Trotman has charted two Billboard number ones, Afternoon Delight and Ride Along. Both of these songs were collaborations with bassist Julian Vaughn. On September 9th Trotman released a new album Brighter Days Ahead. On this album he has several songs that are collaborations with other Smooth Jazz stars. On the albums first track he is accompanied once again by the same artist that collaborated with him on those number ones. From Brighter Days I am playing the saxophone of Elan Trotman and the bass guitar of Julian Vaughn with their song Titianna Nale.

Last week an early release from superstar saxophonist Boney James album Detour charted his record seventeenth Billboard number one with the song Bring It Back. September 23rd the full album was released. From Detour I am playing the sax of Boney James with the song Memphis.
