As regular listeners know, the first hour of this show is devoted to new releases from smooth jazz. Some that I am really looking forward to in the coming weeks are from smooth jazz icon, pianist David Benoit and trumpeter Rick Braun. Our first listen to both these superstars new albums will be next week. Also the first release in ten years from San Francisco guitarist Joyce Cooling will be out in September. So be sure to keep tuning in in future weeks to hear those new albums as soon as they become available.
New releases to be played this week are from Althea Rene, Cindy Bradley, Julian Vaughn, Pieces Of A Dream, Mindi Abair, Chris Standring, Johnny Britt, and Walter Beasley.
In the middle of the first hour, I will play Billboard's top three songs in smooth jazz. We will find out if Grammy Award-winning jazz keyboardist, arranger, and record producer Bob James who is now 79 years old, and is still going strong with a career that began in 1963, is still on top of the charts for a third week.
The second hour is devoted to the classics from Smooth Jazz. The classic among classics segment will look at what many consider to be the birth of smooth jazz with work from David Benoit on Dave Grusin's company, GRP Records (the G stand for Dave Grusin).
Thank you for your continuing support of this program and KKRN.
