It was one of those great moments. It was my honor this past week to interview in the Redding studio tremendously talented jazz pianist, vocalist, composer, arranger, and international star Sarah McKenzie. You will find much information on her in my show descriptions the past few weeks on this site KKRN.org.
Since that information is still available, I will concentrate on telling you about the interview, Following appearances all over France winding up in Paris, on to Melbourne, and then in San Diego, Sarah departed on a west coast road trip to promote her brand new album Secrets Of My Heart released March 29th. She stopped at an amazing over thirty radio stations from San Diego to Seattle.
Expecting with her busy schedule perhaps just a short interview, I was pleasantly surprised. The interview lasted an hour and was stupendous. Sarah is a beautiful person inside and out. She immediately was aware of my nervousness and quickly put me at ease with her infectious laughter and great stories. She explained how nervous she was initially performing places like the famous Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and with the Boston Pops Orchestra in Boston Symphony Hall. During the interview she gave detailed and interesting answers to everything I asked. She was very complimentary of my questions and preparation. For someone only thirty one, she has led such an interesting life and was certainly able to speak at length about it all. The many stories that she told during the interview could almost be a primer for anyone wanting to know about what it takes to succeed in music or in life. I could not be happier with the result.
The interview with music selected by Sarah (she did my job for me) from her five albums will be broadcast Saturday April 20th from 9:00 to 11:00 PM and Wednesday April 24th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. I am not sure I will be able to fit everything into one two hour show so some things may be carried over into the following week.
You will not want to miss this fascinating interview from this young lady destined to be a superstar.
In preparing this interview for broadcast, I have no time left to describe this week's show so I guess you will just have to tune in. For sure you will hear Sarah McKenzie music. Thank you for your support of KKRN.
