Movie Music Masters: John Williams and Hans Zimmer & An American Musical Hero: Aaron Copland

Share Tweet Email

June 24-25:  Recently I received a wonderful recording of some lesser known orchestral suites that were turned into movie sound tracks.    While classical in nature, they were written specifically for stage and screen productions.  In this broadcast, Intermountain Classics will feature three prominent modern-era composers in this genre, John Williams, Aaron Copland and Hans Zimmer.  You will hear selections from the films “Born on the 4th of July”, and “The Rievers” by John Williams, “The Red Pony” and “Quiet City” by Aaron Copland, and a selection of blockbuster movie soundtrack favorites by Hans Zimmer, including “The Last Samurai”, “Crimson Tide” and “The DaVinci Code”.  So sit back, relax, make some popcorn and enjoy some stage and screen favorites with Intermountain  Classics!

You can hear Intermountain Classics every Saturday night and Sunday morning, on your community radio Station for Redding and Shasta County, KKRN 88.5 FM and on the web at www.kkrn.org.  If you miss a broadcast or you want to hear it again, all past Intermountain Classics broadcasts are archived on the www.kkrn.org website and are available for immediate playback. Thanks for listening and enjoy the show!
