Beethoven’s Fifth & Grieg the Norwegian

Share Tweet Email

June 3-4, 2017:  For this weekend’s program I’ve selected some very familiar and ever popular classical works for this program, starting with a selection from Rossini’s “William Tell” opera, known to many of us as the “Lone Ranger Theme”, as our program opener.   Coming up in the first hour we will hear Beethoven’s timeless and probably the best-known piece of classical music ever written, his Fifth Symphony; and later in the program the famous and exciting piano concerto by Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg.  Also by Grieg are some Norwegian Dances that will get you kicking up your heels, and as a most vivid contrast, an unusual piece for double bass and tango band by  Argentine composer Astor Piazzola.  So stay tuned for this program of beautiful and exciting classical music right here on Intermountain Classics!

You can hear Intermountain Classics every Saturday night and Sunday morning, on your community radio Station for Redding and Shasta County, KKRN 88.5 FM and on the web at www.kkrn.org.  If you have “liked” Intermountain Classics on Facebook, thanks very much!  And if not, I hope you will consider doing so.
