July 16, 2006: Tonight’s program features the Creatures of Prometheus Overture by Beethoven and a delightful piece by Respighi called La Boutique Fantastique. I also have a beautiful choral work for you, the Magnificat by Italian composer Porpora, as performed by the San Francisco Girls Chorus. In the second hour we will hear a repeat of a 2012 program which was the first edition of my “Boundaries and Crossovers” special, with transitional music from classical to jazz, African world music, Italian movie music and a unique string quartet from England who play just about anything under the sun!
