North State Symphony’s Love Affair with the Violin

Share Tweet Email

Every so often, I replay one of the past programs of Intermountain Classics to commemorate a special occasion.  Last weekend, the North State Symphony had its “Melodic Attraction” concert, featuring guest soloist Andrew Sords playing the beautiful Sibelius violin concerto.  North State Symphony has featured  several violin soloists in the past, including Lyndsay Deutsch last year, and concertmaster Terrie Baune in 2012.  Tonight Intermountain Classics presents a special tribute to North State Symphony and its love for the violin in a program of past programs featuring the violin.  At the beginning of the program tonight we heard Lyndsay Deutsch playing Gershwin’s “Bess You Is My Woman Now” from the opera Porgy and Bess.   During tonight’s show we will also hear a track from Andrew Sord’s newest CD release, “Transcendence”, and a replaying of Terrie Baune’s interview from the November 2012 concert, talking about her performance of the Berg violin Concerto, written “… to the memory of an angel.”
